What to Know
Exterior mount means the form goes on the outside of the glass, so it has to survive whatever the lot does — sun, rain, and repeated pressure washing — without fading, lifting, or turning illegible. That’s a different engineering problem than an interior form ever faces, and it’s why every exterior product on this site, regardless of which of the 3 form types it is, is built the same way underneath.
One Material, Three Form Types
Every exterior item we sell — window stickers, addendums, and Buyers Guides — ships on waterproof polyester stock with permanent four-sided adhesive, not the paper stock used on interior forms. The form type still determines what’s printed and why: a window sticker carries Monroney-style vehicle specs and pricing, an addendum discloses a supplemental fee or add-on the main label doesn’t cover, and a Buyers Guide satisfies the FTC’s Used Car Rule disclosure. What doesn’t change across those three is the material — dealers who wash inventory outdoors or store vehicles on an open lot pick exterior mount for all three, so the sticker, the addendum, and the Buyers Guide on the same vehicle all weather the same way.
Built to Survive the Lot, Not Just the Showroom
Polyester resists the fiber breakdown that paper develops under UV and moisture, and the permanent adhesive is rated to hold through freeze-thaw cycles and summer glass temperatures that would lift a lighter interior adhesive. That combination is what makes exterior mount the standard choice for lots that pressure-wash inventory on a schedule, display vehicles outdoors year-round, or operate in climates with real seasonal swings. Applying and Removing Exterior Forms
Clean and fully dry the glass before applying; residual moisture under permanent adhesive weakens the bond as it cures. Apply in shade when you can, since direct heat speeds up adhesive activation and shortens your window to reposition. Removal at end of lot life takes more effort than peeling an interior form — warming the adhesive with sun or a heat gun before working a corner loose keeps the glass clean without scraping.

Q. Why do exterior forms use polyester instead of paper stock?
Polyester holds up to direct sun, rain, and repeated pressure washing without the fiber breakdown paper stock develops outdoors. Every exterior-mount item we sell — window stickers, addendums, and Buyers Guides — ships on the same polyester stock for that reason; interior forms use paper because they never see weather. It's a material choice driven by mount location, not by product type.
Q. Will exterior adhesive damage tinted or coated glass?
No — the permanent adhesive is formulated for direct glass contact and is safe on factory tint and standard coatings. It's built to hold through freeze-thaw cycles and summer heat, so removal takes more deliberate work than an interior sticker: warm the adhesive with a heat gun or direct sun, then peel slowly from one corner. Test an inconspicuous edge first on aftermarket tint film specifically, since film adhesives vary by installer.
Q. What happens to the form when a vehicle sells or transfers lots?
Peel it off at handoff — permanent adhesive is designed to hold for the vehicle's time on your lot, not to survive removal and reapplication. Budget one exterior window sticker, addendum, or Buyers Guide per vehicle per lot stay rather than planning to move the same physical form to a different car. Q. Does exterior application need different technique than interior?
Yes. Clean the glass and dry it fully — any residual moisture under permanent adhesive weakens the bond over time, unlike interior's light adhesive which tolerates a quick wipe. Apply in shade when possible; adhesive activates faster in direct heat and gives less time to reposition. Press from center outward the same way you would on an interior form, but expect firmer initial tack and less room to correct placement once it sets.
